Menopause

Menopause
I read an article about the complexities of transitioning through peri menopause and menopause… menopause was defined as ‘the natural transition away from fertility, marked by the end of monthly menstruating’.
A ‘transition away from fertility’… what about the transition away from our old self, our previous identity, our energy, mental agility, joy of life? What about the rage, anger, irritability, invisibility, loss of interest, loss of hope and sorrow? What about our empty nest and changing roles, wondering about the next stage? What about declining bone density, waking at 3am, night sweats, loss of libido, panic attacks, racing heart, thinning hair, dry skin, ‘to HRT or not to HRT’. What about looking in the mirror and not finding our image reflected? For many women, this is the lived experience of menopause.
It’s not always a struggle. There can be freedom and liberation in this life period; time to reclaim or reinvent, time for self-care, new learning, community, or changing your career. But if you do struggle and you need to think about ‘who you are now and what you need’, I am here to help.
I collaborate with a team of female medical doctors who specialise in peri menopause and menopause, to ensure that my knowledge is current around the physical and hormonal aspects of menopause. I have undertaken specialist training in addressing the cognitive, emotional, and physical challenges of menopause. Alongside these evidence-based approaches I hope to offer you compassion, sensitivity, and understanding in supporting you with your challenges around this period of your life.
